The purpose of this publication is to provoke thought and dialogue relative to our political process.

Too often, the forces of complacency and apathy rob us of the belief that government and the political process are meant to protect and promote the public welfare.

We cannot surrender this belief.

We must remember that we are our brothers’ keeper; we must remember that hope for our future and the futures of those around us can never be ceded.  We must remember to act when called upon, even when the tasks at hand may bear consequences that frighten us . For failing to do so makes us complicit with the very forces that threaten us.

Robert Kennedy once said,  “Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.”

RFK is an example of conviction and courage in the face of adversity. His call to action should inspire us all, not only as a person of conviction, but as a person of action.

Not all of us are called upon to bear the weight of leadership as heavily as he, but each of us can carry our own portion of that weight.

Through government and the political process, we can promote hope, improve the lot of others, and fight the forces of complacency and apathy. In so doing perhaps we can all dare to achieve greatly, and be the hope that creates the future we envision.

What are you going to do about it?
